Membership Information

When you become a member of The Commonwealth Club of California, you join about 16,000 other public-spirited men and women who believe that important issues should be discussed openly in a nonpartisan environment. Learn more about the member benefits we offer.

The Club is a nonprofit, member supported public affairs forum that hosts a variety of programs including speeches, debates and discussion on timely and topical issues. To accommodate our members, we offer programs at many different times and in many different locations, with the majority of our events held in San Francisco.

Our South Bay members enjoy programs and activities at the Commonwealth Club/Silicon Valley. Commonwealth Club/Silicon Valley continues to develop programs that address issues pertinent to the Silicon Valley community. East Bay programs have included former eBay executive Meg Whitman and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain. In addition, The Club hosts programs in Marin and Sonoma Counties.

The Commonwealth Club has a large and varied pool of members who benefit from access to our fantastic programming and magazine. One of the special areas of membership is INFORUM, which is targeted at young professionals. INFORUM organizes panel discussions, live interviews, film screenings, happy hours and regular debate discussion groups that are open to all Club members.

The Club also has a donor circle of members, known as the Leadership Circle, who offer invaluable support to the Club through contributions above the standard membership level. As thanks for these contributions, Leadership Circle members receive invitations to private receptions and other exclusive opportunities, and are entitled to attend all (non-food) programs at our San Francisco, Silicon Valley or Lafayette offices free of charge. These benefits are in addition to the regular benefits of membership.

And, of course, The Club is happy to provide special rates for our Senior members, and individuals who share a household are eligible for our Family rate. The Club’s membership spans the ages!

Joining The Commonwealth Club opens up a whole new world of learning opportunities and the chance to interact with not only today's headline makers, but with fellow highly informed and involved citizens.
