 Eminent and award-winning journalists Gibbs and Duffy experienced their first joint authorial success for their New York Times bestselling book The Preacher and the Presidents: Billy Graham in the White House, in which they examine the crossroads between faith and politics through an intimate account of the work of longtime unofficial presidential minister Billy Graham. In their forthcoming book, The Presidents Club, Gibbs and Duffy switch gears, bringing to the table a revealing account of the complex alliances, rivalries, transactions and misunderstandings that have characterized the relationships between the United States’ past 13 presidents. The idea of a “Presidents Club” was conceived by Harry Truman and Herbert Hoover nearly 60 years ago, on the occasion of Dwight D. Eisenhower’s inauguration. Since that time, and until today, our presidents have solicited, enlisted, sometimes disregarded and, in rare cases, sabotaged one another for the sake of diplomacy, politics and ideals. Gibbs and Duffy will discuss the influential dynamics of the Presidents Club, thus defining and emphasizing its essential role in the fabric of American executive power.
