Spillover: The Rise of New Viral Disease Epidemics
David Quammen, Science, Nature and Travel Writer; Author, Spillover
The emergence of strange new diseases is a frightening problem that seems to be getting worse. In this age of speedy travel, it could threaten a worldwide pandemic. The bugs that transmit some of these serious infectious diseases share one thing: They originate in wild animals and pass ailments to humans by a process called spillover. Quammen will discuss his global quest to learn how, why and from where these diseases emerge.
