Rita Moreno
Rita Moreno, Actress; Singer; Winner, Academy Award, Grammy, Emmy, Tony; Author, Rita Moreno: A Memoir
In conversation with Peter Crooks, Senior Editor/Senior Writer, Diablo magazine
One of the very few entertainers to win an Emmy, Grammy, Tony and an Oscar – and the only Latina to have done so – Moreno has been dazzling audiences for decades. In her new self-titled memoir, Moreno shares all – from her early days, performing as a miniature Carmen Miranda at age 9, to her memorable role as Anita in West Side Story, her tumultuous romance with Marlon Brando, and finally finding her place in Hollywood. Moreno’s memoir arrives on the heels of her one-woman autobiographical show “Life Without Makeup,” which had a sold-out run at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Today, at age 81, Moreno continues to perform, with appearances on numerous TV shows such as “Law and Order,” “In Plain Sight,” “Happily Divorced” and many others.
