In recent years, recurring human rights violations have threatened the stability of democracies throughout the Americas. Preventing such abuses is critical to the region’s political, economic, and social advancement – yet many challenges to doing so exist. Gumbiner will discuss how human rights defenders, both in the government and civil society organizations, can address these challenges and advance democracy and human rights in our hemisphere.
