Homosexuality is illegal in more than 76 countries and punishable by the death penalty in seven. LGBT activists are challenging these laws and fighting social stigma on the ground. Yet many LGBT people are forced to flee their homes and countries to seek asylum. In the U.S., LGBT asylum seekers face new challenges. A panel of international LGBT activists and asylees – including participants from the Middle East and Africa – will share their insights and experiences.
