Radio Program: David Kennedy and Joe Scarborough on Defending American Freedom
This radio program from The Commonwealth Club draws on two separate events: "David Kennedy: The Future of Democracy in America" and "Saving Freedom with MSNBC's Joe Scarborough."
Professor Kennedy is the inaugural speaker in the Club’s new series, The Future of Democracy. This series will explore challenges and threats to democracy in the United States, drawing on historical evidence and relating it to the current political and social landscape. He and Roy Eisenhardt engage in a discussion of America’s past and current leaders and what they may portend for the direction of the country.
Joe Scarborough documents the hard work of the U.S. government in containing the spread of communism around the world. The historical account focuses a particular spotlight on President Truman and his ability to rally Republicans and Democrats behind one of America’s most dramatic foreign policy shifts.
The David Kennedy portion of this radio program is part of The Commonwealth Club’s Future of Democracy Series, supported by Betsy and Roy Eisenhardt.
