Reading Californians Book Discussion: The Archer
San Francisco Chronicle columnist Barbara Lane has described Shruti Swamy's The Archer as "a coming-of-age novel set in 1970s Bombay. A key element of the book is Kathak, a classical dance form."
This California Book Awards 2022 gold medal winner gives us insight not only into a young South Asian woman's life but also into how her love of Kathak stabilizes her life. The images of India are vibrant and memorable.
